Good hands!

Good hands!

I have been covering a local high school for the past three years as their volunteer photographer/blogger. The Chapel Hill Panthers have made it to the GHSA play-offs the last two years. This year has been a little difficult in comparison and they still have a long way to go.

But this past Friday, senior quarterback D’Shawn Abercrombie showed that he has great presence and hands to match. While scrambling for the end zone, he briefly lost control of the ball. But, as you can see in the photos, he managed to ‘keep his eye on the ball’.

By the way, they won 28-7 for their first victory of the year.

Somewhere over the ...

Somewhere over the …

You know the rest of the famous song.

But, after a wild afternoon thunderstorm, a rainbow appeared behind our house. It briefly made a double rainbow but the second soon faded away.

We’re definitely not in Kansas!

San Diego, Calif.

I attended the Nik Summit in San Diego in May. What a great town with plenty of photo ops at every turn.

Army Reserve Best Warrior

Army Reserve Best Warrior

I was the lead photojournalist for the 2010 Army Reserve Best Warrior Competition. Being the lead meant that I had four excellent military photojournalists to work with. They made being the ‘lead’ easy as they just went out and captured fantastic images.

Still getting the hang of this

Well, after one week of using this new template from Graph Paper Press, I’m starting to figure out all the inner workings of it … sort of.

The Army has jet airplanes?

The Army has jet airplanes?

Yes, the Army flies jet airplanes. Granted they may not be supersonic attack fighters but they are jet airplanes, nonetheless.

Here are a few selected images of models I’ve worked with the past couple of years.

Harvest Moon

Harvest Moon

It was a great night for moon-gazing as the Harvest Moon actually occurred on the first day of Fall. The sky was clear and the color was really spectacular.

More images than I know what to do with

I always wondered how many images I had in my external hard drives. I found out exactly how many last week. After uploading a trial version of a well-known cataloging software, it told me I had over 120,000 images in my library. 120,000!? That is more than I could have possibly imagined.

Army Reserve & NASCAR team up

Army Reserve & NASCAR team up

I had the honor of covering the Army Reserve featured as primary sponsor of the #39 Stewart-Haas Chevrolet Impala driven by Ryan Newman during the Emory Healthcare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The race was held on Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010.

While Newman qualified on the outside of Row 1, he finished 8th overall. But that was a huge accomplishment as he battled an ill-handling car for most of the middle part of the 500 mile event.

Excuse the dust!
