Snowy Sweetwater Creek
My wife and I headed out to Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs to see how much snow they got during the epic storm that hit last week.
While much of the snow had melted there was still plenty on the ground in ice along the creek.
White Monday…
Well, just a few short days after a white Christmas, Douglasville and the rest of north Georgia was hit again with snow … this time … A LOT of snow!
Reports of 5-7 inches in some places around the Metro.
Here’s a look out my front door this a.m. State officials want to keep everyone off the roads. We’ll see how long that lasts.
Train derails in downtown Douglasville, Ga.
Douglasville, Georgia, U.S. – A Norfolk-Southern train derailed around 1 a.m. on Tuesday in downtown, Douglasville, Ga. According to Douglas County PIO Wes Tallon, the train, heading west from Atlanta, encountered an unknown problem causing approximately 11 cars to derail, spilling container cars along the track. No injuries were reported nor were any hazardous chemicals reported as spilled. He said clean-up is expected to take 12-14 hours today. The rail line is a main east-west line from Atlanta to Alabama and services up to 44 trains each day to include AMTRAK. Tallon said the wreckage is contained in a small gulch along Ga. Hwy. 78. No rail cars entered the roadway or the property nearby which included private homes and downtown businesses.
