A strange, new world

A strange, new world

Here’s another in my recent series on space-themed art done completely in Photoshop CS5.

I’m hoping to expand to planetary surface art very soon.

Uh...Houston...You have a problem!

Uh…Houston…You have a problem!

Here’s the latest in my series of things that come from beyond our atmosphere.

This time, Houston has a new ‘sheriff’ in town in the form of an illegal alien that didn’t come from south of the border.

Image of the Houston skyline taken in Jan. 2009. Cloud composites taken over the past few years. The spacecraft created completely in Photoshop.

Enjoy!

Atlanta asteroid attack

Atlanta asteroid attack

O.K., relax! There really wasn’t an asteroid strike in Atlanta today.

That said, this is an image I took of downtown near the 17th Street bridge last month. A little Photoshop magic and there you have it. Atlanta burns up…again! Why do think they call it ‘Hotlanta’?

This graphic inspired by an online PS tutorial and a recent show on the Discovery, TLC or one of those channels.

Egypt in Crisis

Egypt in Crisis

While watching the news last night, I became inspired to create a graphic for the ongoing situation in Egypt. A graphic designer is often influenced to create images based on world events. It’s what we do.

My first venture into deep space

My first venture into deep space

O.K. You got me. I really haven’t been into deep space. Although have been accused from time to time of being a little spaced out.

After looking online at a website devoted to Photoshop artwork, http://www.psdvault.com, I decided to try my hand at some original space-themed artwork.

While all of the examples on the above mentioned site are absolutely fantastic, I decided to give it a try.

So, without further delay, here’s my first stab at space artwork. The nice thing about this type of art is there really is no wrong way to go about it. It really does come from whatever is in your head at the time.

I realize I have a long way to go so your feedback is highly encouraged.

Spec advertisements

Spec advertisements

Attached are a couple of spec advertisements I designed using some racing images I shot a few years ago.

Too bad I never showed them to the people or companies actually pictured in the ads. They might have actually liked them.

Army Reserve full-page promotional advertisement

Army Reserve full-page promotional advertisement

Here is a full-page promotional advertisement for the U.S. Army Reserve that I designed at work.

Nothing fancy, just an image of Army Reserve Soldier Spc. Joshua McDowell and a little work in Photoshop.

Reflection

Reflection

Reflections are all around us, no matter where you look. But the most important reflection is the one within each of us.

Each day, we must look within ourselves and ask the question, ‘Do I like who I am?’ ‘Do I like who I have become?’ ‘Do I like the direction my life is going in?’

Without honestly answering each of these important questions, we cannot truly become the person that we should be.

Anguish ...

Anguish …

There is a lot going on right now in my life but this graphic is not a complete reflection of me. That said, I’m sure everyone has felt like this at some point in their life.
